Tips n Tricks

How to prevent Hip Dysplasia

        • DO NOT OVER WORK YOUR PUP.

        • Never run your dog on hard surfaces. e.g. Concrete

        • Under 2 years of age

          • Never jog with your pup.

          • No endurance training with your pup.

          • Never run with ATV’s, Bikes or any other vehicle with your pup.

Feeding

        • No Puppy food after 4 Months of Age.

        • Never over feed your dog, an obese dog can cause hip dysplasia

        • I recommend using Pet First Dog foods.

        • A healthy dog is lean not skinny.

Training

1. Obedience Training

          • I recommend the 'Bright Puppy' and the 'Let's Go Further' classes.

          • Classes available for pups with serious problems call (403)250-7912 ext 344

          • Various classes and help for your puppy.

          • Pet Psychologist is also available.

2. Potty Training

        • All puppies are paper trained.

        • Each time a puppy wakes up or eats, the pup should be taken to the place where you want him/her to go.

        • Clean all puppy stains and spritz with vinegar to prevent them from 'going' there again.

3. Walking

        • I suggest using the 'Gentle Leader' when taking them for walks. This provides a safe control over your dog's actions without harming them.

        • Never take your puppy to open dog parks until they have received all their shots. This prevents a disease like Parvo -- which is deadly to a Shepherd.
